Using ntsysv Tool to Check and Configure Runlevel Startup Services
The ntsysv is tool that provide simple interface that can be use to configure runlevels on Linux Fedora operating system.... the ntsysv tool is use for activate or deactivate the startup services on specific runlevel. The default service that start up the Linux computer boot up can be configure using the ntsysv tool... The step by step example below show the use of ntsysv on Linux Fedora 9.
If the ntsysv tool invoke without any option as shown on example below ... display and list all services for current runlevel and display the services that start on boot up... The ntsysv tool display the list of service that start on boot up by mark with asterisk [*] on the service name. Use the Tab key to navigate on the ntsysv window screen. To disable the service to start at boot up, remove the asterisk [*] by hitting the space bar key...

[root@fedora ~]# ntsysv
Services on current runlevel using ntsysv tool:

The above figure show ntsysv tool display the list of service that start on boot up by mark with asterisk [*] on the service name. Use the Tab key to navigate on the ntsysv window screen. To disable the service to start at boot up, remove the asterisk [*] by hitting the space bar key... Hit the OK button to save the configuration or hit the Cancel button to discard all changes.
To configure the specific runlevel using the ntsysv tool... invoke the ntsysv tool with --level option as shown on example below...

[root@fedora ~]# ntsysv --level 3 invoke ntsysv command to configure runlevel 3 only
[root@fedora ~]# ntsysv --level 5 invoke ntsysv command to configure runlevel 5 only
[root@fedora ~]# ntsysv --level 345 invoke ntsysv command to configure runlevel 3, 4 and 5
